Rock n Roll Dancing at Wicksteed Park Pavilion, Kettering
The great DJs kept us dancing in the breaks throughout the day with jive music and strollers, the jive competition was held in the evening. The event this year was held at the Wicksteed Park Pavilion, plenty of room to dance with a large sprung dance floor with an ample car park nearby. The dance floor was full for the whole event with loads of people jiving to the great rock n roll sounds. All the bands were astounding Ray Collin’s Hot Club from Germany were giving a huge reception delivering some of their well unknown tunes. True to form The Revolutionaries and Mark Keeley my personal favourites gave cracking performances. If you wanted to buy Rock n Roll memorabilia or clothing were was plenty of stalls and a reasonable priced food stalls. Tired and foot sore we headed off to a nearby premier inn for a good night’s sleep.
Quite a day, met many of my old rock n roll friends and recognised many a face from the past and it was great to catch with them. The Rock n Roll scene always seems to be the friendliest, less judgemental and more accepting than others. Looking forward to the next one well worth the travel, well done Burton Rock n Roll Club it was an amazing success. Mr Dickie Bows and company enjoyed their day.
